Im here again to show off some more art i have been working on for class. The next project that is due is coloring line art in Photoshop. One character and one environment.
Ill start off with the character. The choices were Buzz Lightyear, Stitch and some girls from Frozen. I haven't had a chance to see Frozen yet so i don't know their names. I think its Elza? Sorry!
Anyway, i chose stitch because i wasn't the biggest fan of Toy Story when i was younger, im sure if i watch it now i will be blown away by it.
Ill admit i haven't watched Lilo and Stitch either (silly right? what have i seen?), so i decided to watch it sometimes last week and i enjoyed it a lot. I like to think it helped me understand the characters a bit more.
On the left you will see the pure white background version and the right i added a grey background to show off the highlights i put in. The assignment was a character and a shadow but i do think i should have put maybe some sand and a beach behind him. Next time for sure i will!
Next one up is a room some of you may be familiar with. Its from Gravity Falls. I have seen a couple episodes and they were very interesting, i would like to watch more of it, maybe if it hits Netflix or Hulu because i can never keep up with Disney's TV schedule.
I wanted to attempt both of these with a painterly feel. I think our teacher wanted a realistic approach but i wasn't really feeling that concept for these. I know that in the real world and job force i wouldn't be able to just switch what they expect of me but i know for a fact i wouldn't be hired or commissioned to do a realistic painting of any kind its not something that i want to do as an artist. This assignment was very hard, was so intense just making the channels(if you know Photoshop), fixing them if they were incorrect, base painting each part, adding shadow to each part, highlights. It doesn't sound like much to experienced painters but i made a channel for each object you can see and im not sure if that was good or bad. I feel like i set myself up for all the work and stress. I think i could have just started from back and worked my way front (like a Bob Ross painting) and maybe it would have been a more fun assignment to work on.
During spring break all 3 of my art classes gave us homework and i couldn't finish any work from the other 2 classes, i only focused on my digital paintings. Now i have a slight ache in my hand which really really makes me sad but im working on doing stretches and exercises to help. I will be wearing a hand splint to help as well. My spring break didn't start until the Sunday before we go back to class, that was the only day i had to relax and have to myself. I tried my hardest and that's really all i can say. I don't think my environment looks too good but i honestly tried and worked several hours to make it look decent. Im proud of how it came out but i just wish actually working on it was fun. Art has always been fun for me, even when it looks subjectivity bad the journey was always enjoyable. This journey was rocky and filled with potholes and pits of fire and just i didn't enjoy working on it.
The Stitch painting was more fun in comparison, i think because it was just a single character, which is something im used to painting with markers and watercolors. No real issues while working on it, that one the fun was beginning to return but still i felt overworked and exhausted.
I hope you guys and my class enjoy what i have accomplished, i know more experienced digital painters will knock this out of the park and that's fine, i look forward to seeing how they approached everything.
Have a nice day!

I think they both look fantastic! Keep it up. I have faith you'll do wonderful things!
